Tiny House, an Experiment

An Experiment with Nano Banana Pro and Veo 3.1 Fast: For my current test project, “The House by the River,” I experimented extensively in Google Labs’ Flow, specifically combining Nano Banana Pro, Midjourney, and Veo 3.1 Fast. It quickly became clear that a linear workflow doesn’t always yield the best results. Despite detailed reference images and prompts, Nano Banana Pro initially failed to deliver the aesthetic depth I had envisioned.

The solution lay in a so-called ping-pong workflow. I used the drafts generated in Nano as a compositional base and transferred them into Midjourney first. There, I was able to significantly enhance the visual style using mood boards and targeted personalization. I then fed these aesthetically upgraded reference images back into Nano, where they served as a stable foundation for consistent results.

This hybrid approach allowed for surprisingly precise control over the scenery. Everything could be intentionally directed from various perspectives and camera angles, to atmospheric details like weather and time of day, right down to the characters’ emotions. Generating short video clips from these elements also works very well in Flow by now, including impressive audio control.
